
Bridges Social Development (“Bridges”) is a non-profit organization that was established and registered as a Canadian charity in 2003. Bridges was created for the purpose of capacity building and training of community, professional and youth leaders in have-not communities where the organization has been invited. Bridges does not invest in capital assets, only in the building of human capacity.

Training professionals, community leaders, current and potential philanthropists, excited sponsors, volunteers, and entrepreneurs.
Our Mission
Our goal with the redesign of Canada Bridges web materials was to effectively communicate it’s organizational objectives to it’s target audience along with providing essential documents for it’s staff.
Measurable milestones to support this project goals:
- Integrate social networking tools for increasing traffic and promoting user dialogue.
- Improve search engine placement
- Increase awareness of upcoming events
RTI programmers utilized their ajax, html, css and javascript allowing for all elements to be searchable, book-marked and accessible across internet browsers. A step-by-step wireframe was created to communicate where Canada Bridges works creating a variety of means for navigating this section. Website real estate concepts were applied being very thoughtful regarding where visuals, text and links should be found throughout the website. Finally, this entire website was build using a CMS (Content Management System) providing the means of updating this website without any knowledge of code.
Design
With overseas initiatives being the focus of Canada Bridges, we decided to include supporting images of efforts and environments providing visitors with a well-rounded experience. This includes media rich articles, blog posts, upcoming events and more.
Interactivity
A major focus of this website is promoting the blog section to be used use by organizational volunteers. Whether they’re in Canada or across the globe, Canada Bridges has a crew of bloggers creating new posts, updating supporters and getting a chance to voice their ideas. Social media sites and RSS feeds are heavily relied on inform Canada Bridges network of new information available on the website.
Keep in touch
Users of any website are best retained when there is a reason or means of keeping in touch with them. We decided to approach this in two ways. First, a newsletter signup is available on every page of this website creating an ever growing database of interested people wanting to continually learn more about Canada Bridges. Second, conversations are started through Facebook and Twitter asking fans and followers for input on new articles, blog posts and upcoming/past events.
The Result
The site launched in the summer of 2010 and was integral in promoting upcoming events throughout Canada, USA and UK. Overall this website is easier to find through all major search engines using a variety of strategic keywords. This has increased the overall visitor traffic, retaining these viewers for a longer duration of time. The influx of traffic also directly influenced the growth of Canada Bridges social media efforts.
